Ross Renjilian

Born in New York, and raised in Chicago, Ross Renjilian ventured west for new opportunities in Los Angeles, California for college. He was interested in architecture since the seventh grade where Ross crammed his high school schedule with drafting classes and thumbing through real estate magazines. Later attending The University of Southern California School of Architecture, he realized that architecture was a field with great depth and opportunity.

After a semester abroad traveling throughout Asia visiting major urban centers including Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai, Ross developed a great interest with architecture and urbanism. Many of his projects reflected how architecture itself could have larger urban objectives looking to connect and enhance surrounding contexts. His thesis project (sub)URBAN explored how Transit Oriented Developments could be used as a way to retrofit suburbia by creating place in the sprawl. Ross also was very involved with USC School of Architecture by taking on leadership roles as president of Undergraduate Architecture Student Council and USC Architectural Guild Student Representative.

For the past 5 years, Ross has had the great opportunity to work as an architect here in Chicago. Throughout his experience at Sullivan Goulette Wilson & SPACE A + P he has gained a huge respect for the challenges that come along with design and construction. Through his combined experiences he has worked on a multitude of different projects including restaurants, breweries, single family residences, and multi-family dwellings. Being a part of local firms has been a great resource for Ross to observe the construction process and get to know the many facets of Chicago. Ross joined Mike Shively Architecture in the beginning of 2018 to develop MSA’s commercial projects and mixed-use residential work. When not on the job, Ross can be found at the local coffee shop or at the new foodie establishment around town. He also enjoys playing soccer with his former teammates, pickling, and doing weekend trips to different cities across the country.
